The cookies we use.
Last updated: 31 August 2026
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies cuentoconlaIA.com uses, for what purpose, for how long, and how you can manage your consent. It aligns with the Spanish Data Protection Authority (AEPD) 2024 cookies guideline and the GDPR.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit. It lets the site remember information — for example, your language, an active session, or your cookie-banner choice.
There are first-party cookies (set by us) and third-party cookies (set by services such as Google Analytics or Stripe). Some are session cookies (deleted when you close the browser); others are persistent (kept for a configured time).
2. Categories we use
- Essential — required for basic operation (payment session, CSRF protection, remembering your cookie choice). Always set; no consent required.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4. Help us understand how the site is used and improve it. Only set if you accept them. That applies to this website: the iOS and Android apps use no cookies, and their analytics works differently — see below.
- Marketing — only the
cuentoconlaia_referrercookie, which stores the affiliate code when you arrive via a /r/<code> link. Set only if you accept the marketing category.
3. Cookie table
| Name | Category | Provider | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cuentoconlaia_consent | Essential | cuentoconlaIA.com | 12 months | Stores your cookie choice (accept / reject / custom). |
cuentoconlaia_lang | Essential | cuentoconlaIA.com | 12 months | Remembers your selected language (ES or EN). |
cuentoconlaia_referrer | Marketing | cuentoconlaIA.com | 90 days | Stores the affiliate code when you arrive via a /r/<code> link. Only set if you accept marketing. |
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Essential | Stripe | 1 year / 30 minutes | Payment fraud prevention. Stripe sets these only on the payment screen. |
_ga | Analytics | Google Analytics | 2 years | Anonymously identifies unique visitors. |
_ga_<ID> | Analytics | Google Analytics | 2 years | Maintains session state for the conversion funnel. |
This table is maintained manually. If you spot a cookie not listed here please tell us at privacidad@cuentoconlaIA.com.
4. Managing your consent
On your first visit we show a banner with three options, all with equal visual weight:
- Accept all — you authorise every category (essential + analytics + marketing).
- Reject all — only strictly-essential cookies are set.
- Customize — opens a panel where you toggle each category individually.
Your choice is stored in the cuentoconlaia_consent cookie for 12 months. You can change it at any time by deleting that cookie or by clicking the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer.
We implement Google Consent Mode v2: until you accept, GA4 runs in “modelled” mode without setting cookies or collecting personally-identifiable data.
5. Browser settings
All modern browsers also let you block or delete cookies from their settings:
Note that rejecting essential cookies may prevent the payment flow from working.
6. The mobile apps
The iPhone and Android apps use no cookies — there is no browser involved. They do store data on the device itself, and the AEPD’s cookie guidance covers that storage too, so here it is:
- Your language and your analytics choice, so they survive between sessions.
- The list of books you have already generated, which is what fills the “My stories” tab. It never leaves the phone.
- A per-install identifier for the in-app purchase and, if you accept the alert, the push notification token.
App analytics uses Plausible, not Google Analytics: it sets no cookies and reads no advertising identifier. Today it is on by default and you can switch it off in Settings → Privacy. Everything above is cleared from Settings → delete my data, or by uninstalling the app.
