When to print separately
The PDF is enough for everyday gifts (school birthdays, surprise uncle gift, nightly bedtime book). For big-ceremony gifts (Reyes Magos, Communion, milestone birthdays), professional hardcover has its place: €24-35 at Mixam/Saal Digital/Photobox, 7-10 days. Combined total (PDF + print) €28-39 — similar to traditional competitors but with the difference that your kid is the visual protagonist, not a generic character with their name printed on.
Why so cheap (no trick)
Three things explain the gap vs incumbents: (1) we cut printing, warehousing and logistics — half the traditional cost chain. (2) The pipeline runs on AWS with OpenAI via API; real marginal cost per book is ~€0.80. (3) We're in validation phase (2026) and the aggressive price is intentional — validating demand before raising. If you buy today at €3.99, that's the book's price; no future charges, no 'you'll find out later that…'.

How much does it cost exactly?
€3.99 (VAT included) for the full 20-page book — downloadable PDF + share link by email. One-off payment, no subscription. The 'with preview' option (€5.99) is temporarily disabled while we implement the preview-approval flow; it appears as 'Coming soon' on checkout.
What's included and what's not in €3.99?
Included: 20 unique illustrated pages + cover, 1-3 MB PDF, 30-day download link, optional public share link, email support. Not included: physical printing, postal shipping, commercial rights (you can print and share privately, but not resell).
How does this compare to MiCuento, Stikets or Mumablue?
MiCuento, Stikets and Mumablue sell physical personalised books at roughly €25-35 per copy; cuentoconlaIA costs €3.99 because we deliver the 20-page PDF only. Timing differs just as much: Stikets is the fastest (2-5 days), MiCuento the slowest (~14 days), Mumablue somewhere in between — while our book lands in your inbox 5-10 minutes after payment. If you want a paper copy, you print it yourself: an online printer (Mixam, Saal Digital) charges €24-35 and takes 7-10 days; a local copy shop does it same-day for €8-15. The combined total, PDF plus printing, comes to €28-39, similar to what the traditional books charge — but you decide when and where to print. The deeper difference is elsewhere: cuentoconlaIA illustrates from your kid's real photo, while Stikets and Mumablue build an avatar from selected traits (hair, eyes, skin), not a photo.
Why so cheap? What's the catch?
No catch — the price gap comes from three things, and we'll state them plainly. (1) No printer, no warehouse, no shipping logistics: by delivering a PDF we remove half the cost chain of a traditional personalised book in one move. (2) The pipeline runs end-to-end on AWS with OpenAI models via API: the real marginal cost per book is around €0.80 across compute, email and storage; the remaining margin covers development and operations. (3) We're in validation phase — the product is new (2026) and the €3.99 price is intentionally aggressive to validate demand before raising it. What we don't cut: Rekognition moderation runs on every single upload, photos are auto-deleted after 30 days, and the full book is still 20 illustrated pages built from your kid's real photo, not a generic avatar.
Does it work as a gift? Can I buy one for someone else?
Yes. In the wizard, enter the recipient's email (not yours) as the book destination. The payment email stays in your Stripe; the book lands in the recipient's inbox. For physical-gift occasions (Three Kings, Communion, milestone birthdays), generate the PDF, download it, print it, wrap it — the full process takes less than buying a regular book in store.
Will prices go up?
Eventually yes, but with notice. The current price (€3.99) is set for the validation phase; once the product matures with version rotation (preview tier, hyperrealistic, more languages), prices will adjust upward. If you buy today, you pay today's price — no subscription, no future charges. The price at checkout is the book's price, full stop.
